2012 Blackboard Awards:
For the first time, the major candidates looking to replace Michael R. Bloomberg as Mayor of the City of New York in 2014 appeared in an roundtable to discuss their platforms on New York City's public schools, and general education policies. The roundtable took place as part of Manhattan Media's 10th annual Blackboard Awards reception that was held to honor exemplary schools, individual teachers and principals, and other educational organizations. The roundtable discussion was moderated by Lindsey Christ of NY1 and Philissa Cramer of GothamSchools.org
2009 Blackboard Awards:
What's an award without a party? Manhattan Media likes to honor schools, teachers and principals in person at an evening celebration that before his death in 2009, was hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winner Frank McCourt. You may know him as the author of Angela's Ashes, but he also penned Teacher Man, a memoir of his days as a New York City public school teacher, many of which were spent teaching English to Stuyvesant High School students.
